System requirements
Pulled from the intro, Windows (WSL), and troubleshooting docs. There is no published RAM minimum. The hard dependencies are a terminal or WebView2, and a model.
- Terminal
- A modern emulator. The intro names WezTerm, Alacritty, Ghostty (Linux and macOS), and Kitty (Linux and macOS).
- Windows 10 and 11
- Desktop ships as opencode-desktop-win-x64.exe and win-arm64.exe. The docs recommend WSL for the better file-system and terminal path. Desktop still needs Microsoft Edge WebView2.
- macOS and Linux
- Apple Silicon and Intel desktop builds. Linux desktop is .deb, .rpm, and AppImage. Wayland users may need OC_ALLOW_WAYLAND=1. Clipboard on Linux needs xclip, xsel, or wl-clipboard.
- A model
- Free included models, an OpenCode Zen key, or API keys / subscriptions for the providers you want.

Hashes and signatures
The Windows x64 desktop installer on v1.18.31 is opencode-desktop-win-x64.exe at 120 MB. SHA256:
7e6e4bca1b243609172fa580520e72ed240627fc9c36a80763a6f29bd64b698f
The same release publishes a release attestation JSON. Maintainers stated that CLI and desktop have full code signing from v1.3.4. Compare the hash after you attach the real file URL to the button above.
Antivirus false positives
OpenCode unpacks native bits (including OpenTUI) into a temp folder on first start. Heuristic engines have labeled that as Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.H!ml or Kaspersky PDM:Trojan.Win32.Generic. Smart App Control Event 3077 can block unsigned DLLs even when Defender exclusions exist.
Do not turn Smart App Control off. Prefer a signed v1.18.31 desktop build, verify the hash, and follow the step-by-step antivirus note.
